Peer Educator Leeds

Peer Educator: £24,500

Area: Leeds & Wakefield

18 month fixed term contract (with possible extension)

40 hrs per week, 25 days annual leave

The Hepatitis C Trust has developed projects nationally whereby peers use their lived experience of injecting drug use and hepatitis C, to provide education and training to service users and staff in drug and alcohol, hostel and homeless services, increasing hepatitis C awareness, access to testing and referral to treatment, for people living with hepatitis C.

Do you have experience of working within drug services and with volunteers? Have you been affected by hepatitis C or have you supported anyone who has hepatitis C? We are looking for a passionate and skilled Peer Educator who has excellent communication and organisational skills. Creativity and innovation welcome! Higher education/NVQ3 and the ability to travel is essential.

Working alongside our existing programme in West Yorkshire and under the guidance of the Peer Coordinator, you will deliver key hepatitis C messages within substance misuse and hostel services across Leeds and Wakefield.

You will work closely alongside Leeds Teaching Hospital Virus Hepatitis Team to focus upon engaging with HCV+ patients across the region. Your work will involve maintaining and monitoring the hepatitis C project, sourcing venues for peer education sessions, providing support to peers and ensuring that patients are linked directly into treatment clinics within secondary care.

This post may require extensive travel across the region and it is desirable, although not essential, for the post holder to hold a clean driving licence and have their own vehicle for work related travel.
