One week left to submit evidence to hepatitis C elimination inquiry

There is one week remaining to submit written evidence to the All Party Parliamentary Group on Liver Health's inquiry into the elimination of hepatitis C in England, with the deadline set for Friday 27th October.

The APPG on Liver Health, which The Hepatitis C Trust provides the secretariat for, this week held its third and final oral evidence session as part of the inquiry. Over the course of the three evidence sessions, the inquiry heard from a range of expert witnesses, including representatives from Government, third sector organisations, clinicians, patients and industry.

Following the oral evidence sessions and the submission of written evidence, the APPG will release a 'blueprint for elimination' report in the first quarter of 2018, gathering views on the steps needed to eliminate hepatitis C in England by 2030.

In May 2016, the UK Government joined 193 other member states at the 69th World Health Assembly in committing to eliminate viral hepatitis by 2030. There has been a rise in the number of people accessing treatment for hepatitis C in England in recent years, but further increases in testing, diagnosis, referral and treatment will be required in order to achieve elimination by 2030. Guidance on how to submit written evidence can be found here.
